Department of Anaesthesia & Critical Care began functioning at Paalana Hospital on June 2004. Presently we have 4 operation theaters, one SICU, Neurosurgical ICU, and one MICU. Now there are 4 Anaesthesiologists in the Department. We have 4 qualified Anaesthesia technicians in the Department. Currently we are doing around 250 cases under Anaesthesia per month. We have got all the latest drugs and equipment in the Department. We have got the advanced patient monitoring facilities also. In the ICUs we have got 4 state-of-the art ventilators. In the past 6 years the Critical Care wing have saved a lot of precious lives. One anaesthesiologist will be available in the hospital 24 hours a day.
Trauma Life Support
Our Hospital is the only hospital in Palakkad District where an Anaesthesiologist’s service is available throughout the day at the Casualty. Critically ill and trauma patients are attended at the Casualty and their vitals are stabilized by the Anaesthesiologist. If needed the patients are intubated and shifted to ICUs by the Anaesthesiologist. Since airway management is the most important step in Trauma Life Support, we could save a lot of precious lives.
